KD = (Yorganic / Volumeorganic) / (Yaqueous / Volumeaqueous)

the mass in organic phase is an unknown number ''w''

the mass in the aqueous phase is 4 - w

volume is 100 ml in both cases

the equation to solve is :

10 = (w/100) / ((4-w)/100)

if we arrange the equation we get

10(4-w) =w

40 = 11w

w = 3.6363 grams

that's the amount of Y extracted
