TUBERCULOSIS (T.B) :

Tuberculosis is a infectious and contagious disease which is caused by Mycobacterium Tuberculosis, which spreads from one person to another person through droplet of infection.Tuberculosis is one of the communicable disease which affects respiratory system (lungs) of the person.

RISK FACTOR FOR TUBERCULOSIS :

One of the most important factor which by which tuberculosis will occur is :

* Poor immune system - Due to infections i.e, HIV causes AIDS and weakens immune system.

Currently public are getting awareness about occurance of diseases, their transmission, protection against them and so on. Till then also people are failing in taking safety precautions against the diseases. As mentioned above one of the risk factor for getting TB is poor immune system of body, even then due to life style changes, sedentary life style, increased stress immune system is getting weaker and we are inviting diseases in our body with a free of cost. Public health is very important at this disease condition because it is a communicable disease, and while addressing towards the risk factors of this disease taking of good nutritive diet, maintaining personal hygiene, avoiding smoking and alcohol habits are some of the important methods to protect our self from infections.

FRIEDEN'S INTERVENTION PYRAMID :

According to Frieden's intervention pyramid it describes well public health interventions using 5 tier pyramid, which provides a theoreical framework in improving health. The 5 pyramid tier described by Frieden are as follows.

1. Poor socio-economic factors - People with poor family income, illiteracy, poor housing pattern are at risk of getting TB

2. Change of the context - By implementing smoke free, alcohol free laws by government can bring a good change in public health, which can be done by using available resources.

3.Long last protective interventions - Encourage cessation of smoking, immunizations against infections, counselling therapies will improve public health.

4. Clinical Interventions - Explaining about medication treatment regimen, especially educating on DOTS therapy can reduce spread of infections in the future.

5. Counselling and education services - Education regarding intake of high nutritious diet, physical fitness, personal protection, etc and counselling on cessation of smoking, alcoholism, and so on.

Hence, the theoretical framework of frieden's pyramid will justify the public health interventions , using available resources and capital.
