You will use this scenario information to answer all questions for this assessment. You work at a large private dental clinic, One Dental. You work with a large team of dental nurses and dentists, many of whom come from different cultural backgrounds to yourself. Your manager at the clinic is the Dental Nurse Manager. However, she is leaving soon to go on maternity leave. It's performance review time, and you are hoping to be considered for your manager's role. However, to be considered, your manager has asked you to prepare answers on how you would effectively lead and manage workplace relationships in her absence. Prepare answers to the following questions to submit to your manager for consideration : 1.1) Achieving planned outcomes is important, however, sometimes work relationships hinder your ability to do so. Give three examples of how work relationships and the cultural and social environment at One Dental could support or hinder achieving planned outcomes. 1.2) Having a positive relationship with your team is of paramount importance. Explain three techniques for how you might develop positive work relationships and building trust and confidence with the team. (Examples may include interpersonal styles, communications, consultation, cultural and social sensitivity, and networking) 1.3) As a Dental Nurse Manager, will you be accountable to many different stakeholders. Describe in 50 - 100 words for each what methods and techniques you might use for communicating information and ideas to the following three of stakeholders. Provide a reason why each method or technique you choose is appropriate for that stakeholder 1.4) Legislation and organisational policies greatly affect how you should manage workplace relationships. In approximately 250 words, and identifying two examples, describe what the impact of legislation and organisational policies on workplace relationships in One Dental may be. 1.5) As a Dental Nurse Manager, essentially you'll be a manager of problems! Outline the steps in a best practice problem-solving method in the box below. 1.6) One of the problems you'll encounter is workplace conflict. It's inevitable in the environment we work in. Explain three methods you might use to resolve workplace conflict. 1.7) Unfortunately, not all of the dental nurses at One Dental are great performers and as a manager, you'll have to manage that. Explain what three methods of managing poor work performance you might use for the poor performing staff. 1.8) Even if everything seems to be going well, there is always room for improvement with workplace relationships. Explain in 300 - 400 words how you might monitor, analyse and introduce two ways to improve work relationships.
