Hormone is a chemical messenger secreted from an endocrine gland (ductless glands), which is transported to a distant site from its origin where it produces its action (paracrine action). Based on the function, hormones can be classified into three groups.
1). Homeostatic hormones (regulate metabolic balance)
2). Gonadal hormones (regulate reproduction)
3). Glucocorticoids (regulate stress)
Thus, the blanks can be filled with homeostatic; gonadal; glucocorticoids.
