Tolerance is the decreased response of the body towards the drug with repeated administration. Means, the patient needs more quantity of drug to produce the same therapeutic response as before. Tolerance resembles habituation.
Sensitization response is the enhanced response to some stimulus, which is opposite of habituation.
(a). Using cognitive drugs at home is less likely to condition drug-taking behaviour to home cues that are familiar. So, this may result in the development of tolerance.
(b). In work setting, novel cues enhance the conditioning. Thus, an individual using the drugs occasionally may become sensitized.
