If a developer proposes to fill the salt marsh to create a coastal resort, it may boost the tourism in the undeveloped area. Local people might also get employment opportunities. Filling might support the growth of some huge trees.
However, such fillings can have devastating effect in the salt marsh community of that place. It might disturb the other ecosystems interlinked to it. Marine life forms may loose their spawning grounds.
I will not support the proposal of building a coastal resort by filling the salt marsh area.
Such areas play very crucial nurseries, for the fishes and shellfishes. Loss of such ecosystem can have major impact on the spawning of many marine forms. Thus, disturb the critical balance of the species interactions.
