Polyploids are more common in plants than in animals.
An even haploid chromosome number was produced by polyploidy mechanically by doubling the diploid chromosome. The haploid number probably expected to be distributed irregularly between even and odd when the polyploidy is absent. The elevated occurrence of the even haploid chromosome numbers compared to odd numbers specifies that polyploidy is familiar and possibly significant in plant evolution.
