Step-by-Step Solution

Solution 1

Freud’s psychoanalysis was gaining popularity in America. The interest to understand Freudian psychology was immense. But, it was also prudent that long term psychotherapies were an expensive thing.

Drugs were being developed to cure mental illnesses. These drugs were relatively cheaper. One could simply take a pill instead of taking long sessions with therapists. This was a method developed by the health care companies, to provide health services to the public.

Freud’s influence was highly impactful on America. When he visited Clarks University, he was a celebrity. Books were written about him, movie offers were on his way, which he declined. Documentaries were made about him and his achievements.

Despite the lack of scientific methodologies lacking in Freudian psychology, his psychoanalysis still managed to stay in the limelight. He influenced America beyond the walls of psychology also. Many years later also American Universities had textbooks which mentioned Freud’s visit to the United States of America.
