Mood disorders as the name indicate it is a disorder of the mood that is characterized by the different variations of the mind that lasts for a shorter or longer period of time. The main reason for mood disorders id depression due to family issues, financial issues, exam failure, relationship problems etc.

These problems are mild in some cases and severe in other cases that may leads to serious problems with respect to their health, relation and also at work place. The two key moods involved in mood disorders are mania and depression. There are two types of mood disorders

• Unipolar depressive disorders

• Bipolar depressive disorders

In unipolar depressive disorders the person experience only depression moods like sadness, hopelessness and discouragement. The causative factors for the unipolar depressive disorder are

• Biological factors like the genetic influences that have moderate contribution.

• Neurochemical factors like the disturbances in the neurotransmitter substances that are responsible for the regulation of the brains nerve cells.

• Hormonal regulatory abnormalities that has focused mainly on the HPA (Hypothalamic pituitary adrenal). This HPA shows elevated activity in times of stress that is harmful to the body and leads to hypertension, heart diseases and obesity.

• Biological rhythms like lack of sleep, persistent awakening during the nights and disturbed circadian rhythms can make the depression more severe.

• Psychological factors like the stressful life and low income families are at more risk of mood disorders.
