Answer #1

26. According to Witkin’s cognitive domain style of learning, identify how a field-independent learner structures and processes information from the environment.

Answer: Option c: prefers to know the end result of the learning encounter prior to concentrating on the details.

In Witkin's cognitive domain style of learning, he describes field-independent learners to be more analytic and independent than field-dependent learners. They often used the analytic approach and are task-oriented during the process of learning. These learners are more interested to analyze the overall pattern ( or the end result of learning) before focussing on its parts. The other options given do not represent the features of field-independent learners.

27. Based on Dunn and Dunn’s learning style inventory, which learning style criteria should be considered for selecting a room for a workshop?

Answer: option c. Ability to control the temperature, lighting, and design of the room

This learning style was described by Rita and Keneth Dunn, they state that the environment plays a very crucial role in learning. The lighting, temperature, seating, and sound facilitates the leaning process and may affect the different individuals differently. Therefore we should be able to control the temp[erature, lighting and design as per the learning preference of that student. The other options given are not applicable to Dunn and Dunn’s style of learning.

29. According to the VARK categories, which type of learner would prefer lectures, small group discussions, and study groups? Select one:

Answer: option c. Aural learners

The VARK style of learning states that there are four different types of learners: visual learners, aural learners, read/write learners and kinaesthetic learners. Visual learners prefer learning from graphs, charts, symbolic arrows, diagrams, etc. The read/ write learners prefer learning through reading article journals or writing essays and the kinaesthetic learners learn from their experience and reality ( like simulations or practicals). Whereas the aural learners want their information to be heard or spoken like in lectures, group discussions or study groups.

30. Which teaching strategies would best meet the needs of Kolb’s assimilator style type of learner?

Answer: option c. Lecture and one-to-one instruction supplemented with reading materials Knolb have described in his experiment that there are four stages of the learning process, which are concrete experience, reflective observation, abstract conceptualization, and active experimentation. Assimilator learners are interested in abstract conceptualization but not in the actual implementation. They prefer lectures over demonstrations as they want a clear and good explanation than a practical exposure. They also love to learn from written materials with good descriptions like reading materials handouts etc.similors prefer lectures and reading materials over the demonstration, role play, and self-instruction, therefore the other options given are not applicable.
