Answer #1

3 metabolic pathways affected by nitric oxide

  • Arginine-Nitric oxide pathway

If nitric oxide related relaxation of blood vessels and availability of precusor L-arginine is impaired, chance of developing arherosclerosis is much more.

  • Amino acids

Amino acid pathways L-arginine,L-homoarginine,L-tryptophan

  • Nitric oxide pathway

By preventing the mitochodrial mechanism nitiric oxide reduces the oxygen need of the heart, reducing risk of heart disease.

Production of nitric oxide is not a concern for Mary as Nitric oxide has cardioprotective functions of blood pressure regulation and helps in oxidation of LDL.
