What is the role of the kidneys in fluid and electrolyte balance?
Kidney play a significant role in fluid and electrolyte maintenance in our body.
Nephron is the main structural and functional unit of the kidney which is divided into the various segments and play a major role in the maintenance of fluid and electrolyte equilibrium in our body.
Nephron have various parts like glomerulus, PCT, DCT, LOOP OF HENLAE and COLLECTING DUCT etc
Each part play its different functions like flirtation in glomerulus capsule and absorption of different types of substances like water, Na, K, Ca, glucose... Etc at rest of the parts with different types of forces and finally a waste collects into collecting duct known as urine.
Kidney is dense structure so blood requires a good pressure to supply init.
If any condition arising by which fluid is decreased or in hypovolamic state in which kidney deprives for blood so kidney start to reabsorbing more water by the influence of aldosterone hormone or antidiuretic hormones and also secret rennin enzyme by which rennin angiotensin system activated and required BP is maintained if fluid is high or hypervolamic state, ADH decreases and diuretic effect will occur leads to maintain a homeostasis in the body.
Kidney also secret erythropoietin hormones which help in the erythropoisis.
Excreate waste product of body like urea , uric acid and metabolits of drug etc
If you have any query we will discuss in comment section otherwise please like Thanks
