Colgate palmolive is the worldwide producer of the homecare and personal care products such as the toothpaste and other daily use products like mouthwash soaps face washes men care products toothbrushes etc.

The market of colgate is very vast and it occupies the maximum portion of the daily use products in the global market. To be exact the market share of the colgate is approx 42.1% in the global market. This means that the maximum share of products are manufactured by colgate palmolive . The market type in which the colgate palmolive trades is the monopolistic type of market where there are many no. of producers in the market and some amount of price differentiation also exists because of the variety in the contents of the products that are manufactured by the different brands which act as the competitors for the colgate.

The main brands which are held by the colgate include the following-:

1- Colgate

2- Palmolive

3- Irish spring

4- Sanex

5- Soft soap

6- Protex

All these brands are owned by colgate palmolive and deal in the different kind of products such as colgate is the producer of toothpaste and tooth brushes.Irish spring is the brand name for the men grooming range products.

Now covering such a large global sector the brand of colgate palmolive has many competitors which help to maintain the healthy competition between all these.

The competitors of colgate bpalmolive include ORAL-B , CLOSE UP, PEPSODENT, SENSODYN, MESWAK, AIM, AQUAFRESH, DABUR . These all brands are the manufactures of the house care products and colgate has to face competition of different level in the different counties.

These competitors act as the substitue for the colgate products. As soon as the unfavourable change occurs in the minds of the consumers, or the price of the colgate products rises ultimately the consumption will shift to the substitute of the colgate.

So colgate palmolive occupies a very large share in the global market of the homecare and health related products and faces a healthy competition from its competitors.
