  • African ethnicity
  • Middle age
  • Family history
  • Increased body weight or obesity
  • Elevated FBS
  • Elevated cholesterol levels

  • Reduce the added sugars in the diet like candy, ice cream, sweetened beverages etc
  • Eat healthy fats: Eat healthy fats instead of completely banning fat and fat products. Avocados, nuts, seeds, fatty fish, olive oil can reduce LDL and increase HDL.
  • Avoid saturated fats and add unsaturated fats to the diet
  • Increasing your intake of both fresh and cooked vegetables can significantly improve blood sugar and cholesterol.
  • Add spinach, artichokes, broccoli, bell pepper etc to daily diet and snacks.
