According to the statistics updated in 2019 by world population Prospects: by 2050 , one in six people in world will be over age 65 which accounts 16% of total population. The number of person aged 80 years or over will be tripled , From 143 million in 2019 to 426 million in 2050.

NCOP ( national council for older persons) by ministry of social justice and empowerment has promoted a national policy on older persons.which initiate policies and programmes for geriatric group..It support the interest of oldage, redress to tge grievances of older individuals, and act as a lobby for concessions , rebates and discounts for older individuals.

National policy on Older person protects the rights of elderly which include right to vote, access to rights and opportunities, ensure oldage security, right to protection and ensure their financial security, adequate nutrition, promote well being, medical and health care, protection of life and property, the housing and shelter are focussed.

India has an estimated population of over 10 crore, of which 65 & above range for 10 - 20% will be above 75who face health problems to different degrees.

As per research, around 81% oldage experience physical abuse, 53% experience neglect,37% experiencexperience material abuse, 23% experience mistreatment.

The area where the oldage has to be focused on is physiologial, psychological and spiritual. To provide a sound psychological support they have to free of isolation. As the children stay back at work place reach home late night, care for the oldage become less, they feel isolated and absence of recreation inturn affect the physiological state.so , oldage homes are a good option where they get 24× 7 care by authorities even in emergency they have a liason with good hospitals in the particular region.moreover they will be engaged with people of there age and get a chance to bid goodbye to isolation. Weekly check up by homenurses in oldage home could update the health state of individual person who reside in oldage home. The authorities could organise and involve the residents  in recreational activities accourding to their health status in gardening, kitchen , or any crafts as they could perform.

Health care can coordinate with PHC in each locality and could work hand in hand in caring for oldage as a part of charity of their institution, planning for home care instead of financial benefit. It helps in promoting health of oldage people free of cost.
