Dementia is a syndrome in which the cognitive functions that is the ability to think process thoughts gets deteriorated.

Dementia can be caused by variety of diseases and injuries that happens to brain.since it affects the memory, thinking capacity, comphrension, orientation to time place or person, calculations in day to day life patients feels useless, hopeless and thus gets a feeling of despair.

Here in early stages of dementia there is forgetfulness, unable to comphrend time, becomes lost in familiar places. Later on forgetting names persons, requiring assistant in self care all creates feeling of despair because the consciousness here is not affected. Although it is common in older ages, injury to brain or any other etiological factors may result in dementia.
