Answer: Simvastatin differs from gemfibrozil as the they belongs to the different group of the drugs. Simvastatin is a HMG CoA reductase inhibitors. The major mechanism of this group of drug as it lowers the production of cholesterol in the body. It decreases the accumulation of cholesterol in the Arterial walls. These accumulation becomes a barrier in blood flow to the brain, heart as well as other parts of the body. Whereas, the Gemfibrozil is a fibrates class of drug. It mainly works by reducing the production of fat in the liver.
