Kevin has been able to fully staff his unit and had high hopes that the morale on his unit would quickly change. Instead, he has been met with a new challenge. Two of his new hires came from the local University hospital which has a strong focus on research. The new hires have many suggestions for changes to the unit, typically introduced by saying "At University Hospital we". The "lifers" of the unit are proud of the care they deliver and are resistant to changing their ways "just because that's what they do at the University". In addition these nurses state, "We are a community hospital, we are focused on our patient relationship and not the newest fad in nursing research."

Choose 1 or 2 ways that Kevin can improve communication and resolve conflict on his unit. Be sure to use information from the literature to support your suggestions and to interact with your peers in a scholarly fashion.

Quality care is important to reduce the mortality and morbidity rate of the number of patients in a hospital. Adequate staffing and perfect goal orientation gives effective treatment to the patients and that brings fame and fortune to the hospital. In this unit, Kevin plays an important role in organizing the treatment plan to the patients. Moreover, the staffs over there was very well co-operative with the plans of him and for sure that gives the unit 100 percent effective treatment to the patients. In this case, to solve the coflicts that arise on a new challenge, Kevin have to reduce the pressure that occurs within the unit. To solve this conflicts, Kevin can suggest a feedback from the unit that is from staff nurses and co-workers about the advantages and disadvantages of present and new challenges that going to happen. A perfect feedback from the workers can easily make a decision to reduce the conflicts between them. On the otherhand, a change is always needed to a continuity of care in a hospital but needs time to overcome these changes and thats affect the quality of care to some extent for a while. Secondly, a change should always welcome with a positive smile on face. But if the institution is against new challenges, that reduce the wealth of the hospital. Meetings can be conducted with the higher authorities to reduce conflicts between them. From the aforementioned ideas, Kevin can give assurance to the newly hired team members further to improve the quality of care by meeting new challenges in future.
