  • stroke volume means the amount of blood pumped from the left ventricle of heart in one contraction. it is counted by substraction of end systolic volume (ESV) with end diastolic volume(EDV). in a normal healthy human EDV is approximately 120ml and ESV is 50ml. so stroke volume is EDV-ESV=120ML-50ML=70ML
  • end diastolic volume is the amount of blood in the heart left ventricle just before contraction. when the heart ventricle squeeze to move blood forward is known as systolic and diastolic is when the heart ventricle is relax and fill with blood.
  • so when the left ventricular filling is increased during diastole it decrease the left ventricular stroke volume as the left ventricle is not getting sufficient time to pump the blood because of increased filling.
