Problem Set 1: Two-way ANOVA (8 pts) Research Scenario An Industrial/Organizational psychologist conducted a study examining differences in sex (women and men) and preferred method (face or email) on likelihood of negotiating a raise in the next 6 months. Likelihood was measured using percent probability (where 0 indicates absolutely not planning to negotiate a salary and 100 indicates definitely planning to negotiate a salary in the next 6 months). Twenty-seven participants completed the study. Their results are in the table below. Conduct a two-way ANOVA to determine whether likelihood of negotiating a raise in the next 6 months is affected by sex and/or method. Remember to name and define your variables (your two independent variables and your one dependent variable) under the “Variable View,” then return to the “Data View” to enter and analyze the data. The estimated p-values for the factors Sex and Preference method are 0.382 and 0.000 respectively. Therefore, only Preference method factor has a significant effect on the model. Hence, we can conclude that the likelihood of negotiating a raise in the next 6 months is affected by Preference method at 0.05 level of significance.
