• Hemoptysis

• Any abnormal growth or tumor growth
• Diagnostic purposes
• Lymphadenopathy

Nursing intervention

• Explain the procedure to the patient
• Ensure consent is taken
• Assess for any allergies
• Pre medicate or nebulize as ordered
• Keep patient nil by mouth by atleast six to eight hours
• Monitor vitals (respiratory rates oxygen saturation)

Potential complications

• Hemothorax
• Pneumothorax
• Injury
• Infection
• Bleeding

Outcomes/Evaluations

• Able to rule out the cause of the problem

Patient Education

• Educate the patient not to smoke or take alcohol post procedure
• No OTC drugs
• No extreme hot drinks for first few hours
• Report in case of bleeding ,pain ,breathing difficulty
