Answer #1

Process of "nonspecific compensation.” -

Few things that will give you a position of strength in compensation negotiation:

  • Passive candidates get the best deal. Interview when you do not have a pressing timeline to get a new job.

  • Let your recruiter know that compensation is a key consideration for you. Be crisp, be genuine and stick to your expectation. There is a greater chance you will get it.

  • Don’t just crack the interviews, Impress the heck out of the employer. Most companies have a very wide compensation range. Candidates with stellar interview performance often have higher bargaining power on compensation.

  • Focus conversations on expected compensation. Esp. if your expected compensation is much higher than your current.

  • If you don’t mind the trouble of interviewing in multiple companies, A competing offer helps raise the stakes. If it's direct competition then even better -eg. Facebook v/s Google.

  • Prepare to smoothly & politely walk away from an offer if it doesn’t meet your expectation.

  • If you are going to be a hiring manager in the future, be willing to accept the Karma of offer declines.

Bridging” is the equipment that connects two or more local area networks together. Bridges are optimized for high-volume movement of data. Bridges are the intermediate nodes in the routing of data packets. Bridges are optimized more for this function, than for the tasks of a local area network router.

Brainstorming - You want to encourage everyone you work with to participate in product brainstorming meetings. Here’s how I like doing it:

1.    Set the tone. You as the leader set the tone for your team. You want everyone to understand that there is no such thing as a bad idea, so…

2.    Make sure everyone knows the ground rules. Negativity can’t be allowed, and…

3.    Encourage any idea anyone might have even if it isn’t fully formulated. This is really important because even if the idea isn’t well thought out.

4.    One idea leads to a better idea. You’re brainstorming. I’ve seen Killer Products come from the kernel of another idea, so…

5.    Keep a list of the ideas. You want to revisit ideas from time to time, and…

6.    Make sure to provide closure. Let everyone know what ideas you are going forward with and the ideas you are not going forward with, and remember…

7.    The goal is generating Killer Products and building excitement and momentum.  Done right, you will have an unbelievably motivated team.

Killer Product brainstorming meetings can be the most fun you have!

So go for it! Have fun! Experiment with what works for you.
