Newborn

  • Tyecskin is very delicate and tender
  • Easily injury can occur when friction is applied
  • pH of the skin is more msking the skin more alkaline in nature
  • The skin is deep red in color
  • Vernix can be seen on the skin after birth
  • Lanugo are visible
  • Skin turns dry ,flaky when the baby is to 2 to 3 days old
  • Birth spots can be seen

A young adult

  • The skin is hard and intact
  • Not prone for injury
  • Retains good moisture content in it
  • Have adequate oil and sweat glands
  • No dry skin
  • Skin is often very pulpy

Elderly person

  • Skin thins out
  • Injury can occur easily
  • Wrinkles are visible
  • Skin may look very transparent
  • The strength and elasticity is lost
  • Age spots are visible
  • It looks pale because of loss of melanocytes
  • Cannot tolerate heat due to loss of subcutaneous fat
  • Sweat glands are decrease
