          * It help the nurse to importance of team work in managing problems like

            alcohol addiction.

          * It give awaireness about common problems of alcohol addict and what are

             the measures taken to manage it by former alcoholics in the group.

          * Nurse can use their methods and practices when encounter a alcohol addict

             patient in future.

          * It help the nurse to understand importance of involving family members of patient

             in care to speed up the recovery process.

          * Nurse can share life experiences of former alcoholics to new addicted patient will

            reach the hospital in future.

* Support group for mentally challenged people include National alliance on mental illness

programs (NAMI) which conducted by trained volunteers in the community.

* Interacting with this type support groups help on become better nurse by

               * Nurses get awaireness about importance of effective therapeutic

                  communication when dealing with mentally challenged people.

               * Nurse can observe how the volunteers in the support group give education

                 and provide skill training to patient who are mentally ill and use that methods

                 during nursing care.

               * Nurse can understand the need of involving family members of mentally challenged

                 people in the rehabilitation process and apply this information in future nursing care.
