A steering committee is a volunteer group of individuals who curve out time from their normal day to participate or who may be assigned a small number of hours from their routine tasks . The implementation of an EHR requires a steering committee because its members represent groups with a direct role/involvement in the proposed EHR system.

  Committee's function is to plan, organize, coordinate, and manage all aspects of the acquisition process. Usually includes representation from all stakeholders on committee.
