Electronic Health Record( EHR) is an electronic records of patient healthcare details. This EHR system is a digital version of the patient case sheets or the medical sheets.
An introduction to RFP
RFP or the Request for proposal is an official document asking the companies or the vendors to submit the proposals so that the healthcare organizations can evaluate their proposals and determine that whether the software can meet the the criteria of the facility. RFP preparation phase is the second phase of 'EHR system planning and introduction '.
RFP phase has three key steps: the steps are
* write a RFP ( Request for proposal)
RFP must contain the preliminary information about the healthcare organization, its objectives and goals of EHR implementation and required information from the Venudors.
* EHR Vendors identification
Identify a top four to five vendors and screen them in terms of experience of the vendors, type of Software, other module offering and integration with administrative or clinical system.
* RFP distribution and Proposal collection from vendors
Collect the proposals from the respondents or the vendors for evaluation.

Through this phase an organisation can identify an ideal vendor/ company who meet the organization's criteria or needs for EHR. Also the organization can communicate its IT requirements to healthcare IT companies so that the companies can prepare accordingly.
