Ans : Data collection is defined as the process of gathering and measuring information that enables one to answer queries, stated research questions,test hypothesis and evaluated outcomes.
Data collection methods :
1). Surveys : Surveys are one way in which you can directly ask customers for information. We can use them to collect either quantitative or qualitative data or both. A survey consists of a list of queries and respondents can answer in just one or two words. We can conduct surveys online, over email, over the phone or in person.
2).Observation : Seeing is believing, they say. Making direct observations of simplistic phenomena can be very quick and effective way of collecting data.
3).Questionnaires : As we consider them here, are stand alone instruments of data collection that will be administered to the sample subjects either through mail, phone or online.
4). Experiments : An experiment is a procedure carried out to support or validate a hypothesis. Experiment provides insight into cause and effect by demonstrating what outcome occurs when a particular factor is manipulated.
5). Interview : An interview is a conversation where questions are asked to elicit information.
6). Focus group discussion : Focus group discussion take the interactive benefits of an interview to the next level by bringing a carefully chosen group together for a moderated discussion.
