Molarity of the acid, HF = (0.040 mol)/4 L = 0.010 M

Molarity of the salt, NaF = (0.050 mol)/4 L = 0.0125 M

Ka of HF = 8.5 x 10-4

pKa = -log Ka = -log (8.5 x 10-4) = 3.0706

According to Henderson–Hasselbalch equation pH of an acidic buffer is given by;

pH = pKa + log ([salt]/[acid]) = 3.0706 + log (0.0125/0.010)

pH = 3.1675
