Hypothesis statement are about population parameters , not about sample statistic.

Thus option B and D are not correct.

Now from option A and C, option A is equal to type , so this is not correct for alternative hypothesis.

Thus correct option is :

C. The mean of the population is not equal to 60

Level of significance is denoted by \alpha which is nothing but rejection region, if it gets larger , then rejection increases and hence there is more chance of rejecting null hypothesis.

Also if it gets larger, we get smaller z values.

For example: z value for 0.05 level of significance is 1.645 and z value for 0.10 level of significance =1.28
