1, Multiple myelomas is a blood cancer that affects plasma cells, in which the plasma cells accumulated in the bone marrow and interfere with plasma cells that help fight infection. These malignant plasma cells produce an abnormal antibody that causes tumors and impaired immune function and bone destruction.
2, Common signs and symptoms include nausea, constipation, weight loss, loss of appetite, swelling in legs, more thirst and frequent urination and weight loss.
3, potential complications include thinning bone, fracture, bone pain, anemia, less kidney function, and high infection.
4, Head to toe assessment:
Skin: pallor
HEENT: visual defects.
Abdomen : Tenderness present due to hypercalcemia
Skeletal : Bone tenderness present
Neurologic status : mood alterations present due to hypercalcemia
