4. 4-factors of effective communication in health care setting

  • environmental factor: clear noiseless environment will promote communication among staff nurse and patient. so the environment should keep cool and calm otherwise it will make wrong impact on patient also. for ex- in psychiatric patient if the environ ment is noisy then the patient will became more aggressive and un co-operative.
  • spiritual factor: it means client belief, trust , personal belief and social belief.we should respect client spiritual belief so that they will co-operate us during treatment. never laugh or dominate client belief. dont deny to client spiritual b elief but slowly make him understand the effect of treatment. for example allow the client for worship as his religion.
  • to be a listner: to be a good listener .if you dont listen the client properly then the client will loss his confident upon you. they will not co-operate properly. if you listen half of patient then it make difficulty in implementing plans. so always be a good listener. if you not listen during the time of doctors round then you will unable to implement the change in drug or dose etc.
  • knowledge of receiver: it also has its implication in communication. if the person who is listening is not having sufficient knowledge to decode the message, then it will be a bad communication. so we should always speak or communicate with the client as per his level of knowledge. otherwise it eill mislead the communication.
