Nursing is a whole new ball game of trying to give the best care, professionalism and empathy.Yes ,sometimes i feel that i should have opened up for the situation. While working in PACU we often have to deal with patients who are asking for more pain medications.Sometimes the pain medications doctors prescribe is not helpful in relieving the pain .When a patient becomes terminaly ill sometimes the doctor wont order enough pain medication. So we have to give more than what the doctor said .I often felt that i should have spken the matter directly to the doctor for the patient. This is whats happening in most hospitals.Nurses who are direct providers understand the patients much more. The fear of taking discipliniary action kept me mum in this matter.
