Reflect back on your experiences working with interprofessional teams. Is there a particular situation in which you should have spoken up for your patient, but did not? Explain. What kept you from speaking up?
Yes , there are situations when I wanted to speak for my patients but I can't . One of such situation is when I was working in ICU . I was in evening shift and was taking the vitals of a newly shifted post operative patient . Suddenly a physician came from nephrology for his consultation and shouted on me for not taking the vitals of my other patient who had undergone surgery twice before . He didn't even allowed me to explain the reason and it was really embarrassing for me because he shouted so loudly that even the patient wanted to explain for me that I was looking after the other patient who has been shifted from recovery room as she had breathing difficulty post surgery .
It was just a undisciplined way of talking and the physician wanted to show of his power and authority on his junior staffs .
