Health communication is a process where we are taking some actions to improve the be health awareness or health literacy of the society thus leads to a positive behavioral changes.Through the health communication the communities improves their behaviors thus prompting them to live a healthy life style by taking necessary measures to prevent diseases and to protect, maintain and improve their own health. The positive behavioral changes of the communities may include taking the necessary measures to prevent disease and to protect ,maintain and to improve their own health, such as good nutrition, regular exercise, adequate rest and sleep, abstinence from cigarette smoking ,drug abuse etc.
*In the present scenario according to my views the effective communication and marketing methods which we have to follow to increase the health awareness of the senior citizen or the old age population is public health campaign with health education.
*Through the health campaign conducted to the senior citizen, thus the health information will be disseminate easily and satisfies the patient needs and helps in the disease prevention and health promotion.
*Identify the priority population (Senior citizen) Set goals (At the end of the campaign the senior citizens may a positive changes in behaviors to prevent osteoporosis) select the channels of communication such a television, power point and providing an health information pamphlet to improve the knowledge) give priority to different culture and settings.educate the priority population..
*Learning disability: Involvement of full participation of the family members in the health campaign to get the ideas and knowledge. They will have to be followed and apply it in practice
*Hearing and visually impaired
Use a normal tone for the visually impaired citizen
For hearing impaired person we can use this approach that is give the education slowly, clear and distinctly without any shouting
Language barriers :These type of case are deal by placing a translator
*As an health care professional we are expected to respect the values of patients. We have to consider the beliefs,we have to plan the education according to their preference likes a their likes and dislikes in diet regarding the prevention of osteoporosis. In different cultures they are following different values and customs.
*When conducting a health campaign we nee to get an adequate co-operation and co-ordination of the audience to make the campaign as successful first of all they are aware regarding the importance of the present campaign, how it will be beneficial for them, how can we get rid from the complications of the conditions during the old age by following the educational measures that gain from the campaign we need a representative from the priority population of the senior citizen,Because old age is the vulnerable age of getting diseases. To get deep in to the audience this is the way of selecting a representative/partnership from the audience group. Thus they also will engage or giving support to all the activities of the medical professionals who are conducting the campaign
*To improve the the knowledge regarding the health promotion measures of the senior citizen we can include a verbal and written and other marketing strategies with respect to the values, culture and beliefs of the senior citizens that will influence and empower the individuals to make a healthier choices and leads a burden free life during the geriatric age.
*To make the health campaign colorful we can consider internet access to show the videos of the sufferers, following the healthy behaviors how the condition is improved, development of materials such as brochures, billboards, news paper articles, television broadcasts, radio commercials, public service announcements, news letters, pamphlets, videos, digital tools, case studies, group discussions etc
By using variety of communication channels e can easily access the information to the audience
*When conducting an health campaign we have to educate them in their own level for the better understanding of information. The audience not all are in the same level just described above such as there will be learning disability, hearing and visually impaired, and some are having language barriers. The education should be according to according to audience specific and maintain in an influential tone. Then only they will accept the ideas which we are conveying should be gain the audience in an effective manner.
*When considering and designing a health campaign or social marketing strategies it is important to consider multiple communication and media strategies such as
*Radio
*Television
*News paper
*Brochures
*Internet
*Pamphlets
*Social media tools such as twitter, you tube and face book
