Answer #1

ANSWER.

8) Calculation of volume(ml) of drug required.

         Formula

              Volume(ml) = Desired dose/Dose in hand * Quantity.

   Here

          Ordered dose = 15 mg/kg.

Weight of the patient = 100 lb.

Convert lbs to kg for calculation

                   1 lbs = 0.454 kg.

Weight of the patient in kg = 100 * 0.454

                                                    = 45.4 kg.

              Desired dose(D) for this patient = 15 * 45.4

                                                                  = 681 mg.

                            Dose in hand(H) = 30 mg.

                                Quantity (Q) = 1 ml.

        As per above formula

                   Volume(ml) = D/H * Q

                                             = 681 / 30 * 1

                                             = 22.7 * 1

                                             = 22.7 ml ( PO b.i.d.)
