1. Acidifiers increases the level of gastric acid in the stomach when ingested, thus decreasing the stomach PH

Examples- calcium chloride, ammonium chloride

2. Alkalisers decreases the secretion of stomach acid.

Examples- omeprazole, cimetidine

3. Diuretics work by removing sodium and chloride from the body. It increases the excretion of water from bodies.

Examples- furosemide, torsemide

4. Electrolytes- when dissolved in water, electrolytes separate in to positively or negatively charged ions. The nerve reactions and muscle functions are dependant upon the proper exchange of these electrolyte ions outside and inside cells.

Examples- Calcium, Magnesium

5. Replacement solutions maintains body's water and electrolyte imbalance.

Examples- Lactated Ringers solution, Dextrose 5%
