1.Henrietta Lacks ,an African women belonging to the blacks is now a saviour in the medical research and its treatment for some of the most dangerous life killing diseases like cancer.The HeLa cells derived from her tissue biopsy of the cervical cancer and also taken from her partly autopsied body after death for medical research is still alive.The cell line has been multiplied to nearly 50 million metric tones for research. This makes one feel that respect humanism irrespective of race,ethnicity,cultural background because any one at some point of life can be helpful to one another alive or after dead like Henrietta

2.This following are the examples of how this case addresses a patient

  • Consent :It stresses the importance of taking written consent from the patient by the healthcare providers before doing any procedure onnthe patient
  • A patients deserves the rights to refuse or to take part in a research program
  • If a patient is dead and their tissues samples are to be used for research purpose, the family members has to be informed. If not the family member deserves the rights to sue them for invading in privacy and family without knowledge

  • The importance of consent in medical field ,dignify and respect patient and family
  • The HeLa cell line is a medical miracle which can be used for innumerable research to invent medicine for deadly diseases and prolong life.
