Answer #1

Decision rule

Reject null hypothesis if t < -t(α, n - 2 )
t(α, n-2) = t(0.05 , 40 - 2 ) = 1.686
t < - 1.686

Test Statistic :-
t = (r * √(n - 2) / (√(1 - r2))
t = ( -0.363 * √(40 - 2) ) / (√(1 - 0.1318) )
t = -2.40

Reject null hypothesis if t < -t(α, n - 2 )
t(α, n-2) = t(0.05 , 40 - 2 ) = 1.686
t < -t(α,n-2) = -2.4015 < -1.686
Result :- Reject null hypothesis

Ho. There is evidence to conclude that there is a negative association in the population between the mean number of square fe

Reject H0, There is sufficient evidence
