The measures which can be taken by a nurse to reduce nosocomial infection are

• Meticulous handwashing or hand hygiene in order to prevent cross infection
• Procedure has to be done in a safe aseptic manner
• Using personal protective equipments
• Following and strictly adhering to the infection control practices
• The patient environment has to be kept clean

2.The factors which can influence a patients hygienic practices are

• The environment where they grew up
• The socioeconomic status of the patient where they live
• Knowledge level
• Financial status in looking up the hygiene
• The overall health status of the patient

3.TEDS (Thrombo symbolic deterrent stocking) are like a tight socks usually worn till middle thigh to prevent and formation of clot.They are used in post operative patients to prevent thromboembolism, in DVT patients, bed ridden patients.

It can be simply applied from the tip of toe till the middle thigh and folded outwards

4.The steps which the nurse can initiate when bathing a patient are

• First inform and get the acceptance of patient to have a bath (if conscious) and as a routine as per hospital policy in case of unconcious patients.
• Then arrange all the necessary articles needed during and after bath.
• Provide strict privacy
• If patient is mobile ,taken to bathroom as per convenience, if unconcious bed bath is recommended
• During bath assess the skin and general conditions of the patient for recording.
