Nonprofit organizations also can be categorised by those that serve members, such as professional associations or labor unions, and those that serve the public, such as religious, charitable, business leagues, social and recreational clubs, fraternal societies, and social welfare organizations.

A nonprofit organization (NPO), also known as a non-business entity. Nonprofit organizations return their income back to the organization if they generate extra income.

So it's better to have a non profit organizations for a company rather than an individual union.
