Use of precautions and infection control measures helps both the patient as well the examiner by not passing cross infection.standard precautions are the minimum infection prevention that apply to all patient care regardless of suspected or confirmed infection status of the patient in any settling where health care is delivered.some of the infection control measures are as follows.

1)hand hygiene

2)use of personal protective equipment (mask,gloves ,eyewear etc)

3)sharp safety

4)respiratory hygiene /cough etiquette

5)sterile instrument and devices

6)clean and disinfected environmental surface

7)safe injection practices

8)bio medical waste management

Hand hygiene :-

It is the most important measures to prevent spread of infection .there are surgical hand washing and medical handwashing.

Do handwashing when -

1)when hands are visible soiled

2)after barehanded touching of intruments , equipment,materials ,and other objects likely to be contaminated by blood , saliva or respiratory secretions

3)before and after treating each patient

4) before putting gloves and after removing gloves

5)use soap and water when visibly soiled

Otherwise use an alcohol based handrub

Personal protective equipment :-

PPE refers to wearable equipment that is designed to protect health care staff from exposure to or contact with infectious agents.

* Use of gloves in situations involving possible contact with blood or body fluids, mucous membranes,mom intact skin

*use of protective clothing to protect skin and clothing during procedures or activities where contact with blood or body fluids is anticipated.

*Use of mouth ,nose and eye protection during procedures that are likely to generate splashes or sprays of blood or other body fluids.
