1) Client weight = 145 pounds

1 pound = 0.453592 kg

145 pounds = 0.453592 × 145 = 65.7709 kg

2) Ordered Tylenol elixir = 600mg / 30 ml

5 ml = 1 tsp

1 ml = 1/5 tsp

So, 30 ml = 1/5 tsp × 30 = 6 tsp

3) Length of wound = 8 cm

1 cm = 0.394 inch

8 cm = 0.394 × 8 = 3.149 inch

Hence, length of wound in inch = 3.149 inch

4) Ordered dose of Demerol = 25 mg

Supply dose of Demerol = 50 mg/ ml

Let X ml we will draw up.

By proportion method :-

50mg : 1ml :: 25mg : X ml

X = 25/50 = 1/2 ml or 0.5 ml

5) Ordered dose of Erythromycin = 5000 units/ kg/ day or 5000 units/ 2.2 lb ( 1 kg = 2.2 lb)

Client weight = 110 lb

Requirement of Erythromycin as per client weight = 5000units/ 2.2 lb × 110 lb = 250000 units

50000 units : 1 tablet :: 250000 : X tablet

X tablet = 50000/ 250000 = 1/2 tablet

Hence , half tablet of Erythromycin would be given to client.

6) Ordered dose of Primaxin = 25 mcg or 0.025 mg ( 1 mcg = 0.001 mg)

Available :- 0.05 mg tablet

By proportion method :-

0.05 mg : 1 tablet :: 0.025 mg : X tablet

X = 0.025/ 0.05 = 1/2 tablet

Hence, half tablet of Primaxin would be given to client.

7) Ordered dose of potassium = 20 meq in one glass of orange juice.

Available = 100 meq/ 15 ml

By proportion method :-

20 meq : X ml :: 100 meq : 15 ml

X = 20 meq × 15 ml / 100 meq = 3 ml

Hence, 3 ml of potassium would be placed in glass.

8) Ordered of clindamycin = 1g or 1000 mg

Available = 250 mg Tablets

By proportion method :-

250 mg : 1 tablet :: 1000 mg : X tablet

X = 1000/ 250 = 4 tablets
