According to the reports of The CDC's National Center for Injury Prevention and Control the top ten public health issues in all 50 states and the District of Columbia are:

•       Alcohol-related harms

•        Food safety

•        Healthcare-associated infections

•        Heart disease and stroke

•        HIV

•        Motor vehicle injury

•        Nutrition, physical activity and obesity

•        Prescription drug overdose

•        Teen pregnancy

•        Tobacco use

One of the most important health concern is physical activity and nutrition. Many types of research conclude that staying physically active can aid to prevent or delay the development of certain diseases, including many forms of cancers, heart disease and diabetes, and also can improve mood and relieve depression. The inactivity accompanied by advancing age contributes to many health problems. The physical inactivity is the reason behind many metabolic diseases, obesity, heart problems and mental problems.

The healthy activity level with avoidance of empty calories from junk foods can keep most of the diseases at bay. The development of successful eating habits with physical activity can lead to improvement in the health of the community.

Community Healthcare Resources

The materials, personnel, facilities, funds, and anything else used for providing health care services in the society are termed as healthcare resources. Although the demand is unlimited, the resources availability is limited. The distribution of health care resources in the community must not be based on the ability to pay. The resources distribution must be need-based. The development of various forms of health insurance like Medicare and Medicaid contributes to public health.
