Describe how immigration impacts all levels of government.

Although immigration policy is a national responsibility, with the federal government having exclusive power over it, the choices made still have a lasting effect on local city and state communities. This impact carries a huge burden on many states with budget being one of the main factors. It also affects the public services of states, with most states certain laws are put into place, whether it’s through the dream act or certain propositions passed they can have a huge impact on the services being given. That said, money is coming from the tax payers who really do not benefit from these impacts. Another impact it has is the security of it’s residence on the state level. Some cities have gone as far as to claim themselves as a sanctuary city. Most state and local government feel the policy on immigration is too strict and some go on to say unconstitutional. Other impacts include difficulty in finding jobs for American citizens, because of illegal immigrants coming across the border finding jobs and getting paid under the table these companies don’t have to worry about paying medical insurance or reporting this on taxes. Although illegal until they are caught they still benefit greatly from this, while legal citizens have a harder time trying to secure employment
