Answer #1

F1 = 40 N

F2 = 60 N

F1x =40 N and F1Y = 0 N

F2X =0 N and F2Y = 60 N

net horizontal force = FX = F1X + F2X = 40 + 0 = 40 N

net vertical force = Fy = F1y + F2y = 0 +6 0 = 60 N

net force = F = squrt ( Fx^2 + Fy^2 )

                   F = squrt ( 40^2 + 60^2 )

                       F = 72.1 N

acceleration = a = F / m = 72.1 / 2.5 = 28.8 m/sec^2

direction = tan(theta) = FY / FX = 60 / 40 = 56.3

                              THETA = 56.3 degrees
