Organ donation is a process described as “surgically removing an organ or tissue from the one person and placing it into another person” (Flaman, 2018). This is a very complicated procedure and not everyone who needs a transplant is guaranteed one. Some ethical issues that arise with organ transplant are life and death situations, age, and priority of patients. Many times there is a waiting list for candidates in need of a organ transplant. However, it is based on a lottery system. This can also cause an ethical issue because someone who may really need it to survive may not end up getting it. For example, a child who has his or her whole life ahead of them may really need an organ transplant but an elder person may end up getting it first. This example shows an ethical dilemma of whose life is more important someone young who still have a lot of time or someone at the end of their life. Its a difficult to decision to decide.

Answer #1

Answer: Organ transplantation process occurs when a damaged organ is replaced by the healthy organ provided by the donor. There is a long waiting list for the transplantation and sometimes many ethical issues occurs. As given in the example that child needs organ transplantation but it has been given priority to the elder patient.

This issue have to be solved as preference should be given according to the need and situation of the patient. What if the patient that have been waiting along for the organ transplantation may suffer with the problem that results in fatal? Suppose a person needs heart transplantation and his condition is getting worsen day by day but due to the priority given by the health department, they consider another person as first preference for the organ transplantation, mean while the first patient died. Who will be responsible for this situation?
