In a research study, data is used to evaluate the outcome and display the research findings. The data collected in the research is evaluated to determine the result of the research. In addition, the data is also used as the supporting evidence to the back up the research studies claim. For example, one research study that can be applied to nursing is evaluating the quality of care of nursing staff in the hospital. To conduct this research study, data is collected by having hospital patient answer questionnaires that will reflect their experience while receiving nursing care. Each patient’s questionnaires answers are then gathered to compose statistical data. This data is then evaluated to determine the result of the research. In addition, this data is also used as the supporting evidence to verify the researcher's findings. This data is made available for readers to evaluate research findings and to determine whether these findings are relevant to the research topic.
The use of the data collected in the research is evaluated to determine the findings and it's absolutely correct and also it's used for supporting evidence for backup studies but it only happens if the findings are reliable .
Here comes the point of reliability and validity of data . Like the example posted in the article about evaluation of quality of care of nursing by questionnaire is not a valid one because many times the people just feel the questionnaire just to finish it , many people mark the options which they like etc so it's not a reliable data to undergo evaluation . Not only questionnaire many other research methods should used which are more valid and reliable .
So, that findings can be used for practice and supporting evidence to the back up studies.
