Drug absorption- What if a patient has hyper motility an is having diarrhea? How will that affect absorption? Conversely what if the patient has diminished motility, perhaps a paralytic ileus....will the drug be absorbed?

Diarrhea:

In case of diarrhea the patient will have hyper motility, this excess peristaltic movement affects the drug absorption. Staying time of drug in the intestine is very less.

If the staying time in intestine less, automatically drug absorption also, it won't get enough time to absorb.

Constipation:

In case of constipation the intestinal motility is very less, so the drug won't mix with the intestinal juice properly that affect drugs absorption.

So diarrhea as well as paralytic ileus affects the drug absorption.
