HFI is caused by alternations or mutations in the gene ALDOM. This gene provides instructions for making an enzyme called aldolase B . This enzyme is primarily found in the liver and is isolated in the breakdown of fructose in to energy. HFI is abbrivated as Heritage fructose intolerance is a potentially fatal inheritable disease. As it is a heritable disease its concequences are seen in few population and if they are un diagnosed it leads to severe health problems. The maoin diagnosis is done by fructose is replaced in the diet by glucose and maltose or by other sugars.
