Most of the nursing home in private sector is regulated by the federal nursing regulations enacted in the form of nursing home reform act

The various Accreditation for nursing homes are

Accreditation association for ambulatory health care

The Joint commission accreditation

Commission on accreditation of rehabilitation services

Healthcare facility accreditation program

How will these accreditation change the development plan and what will you do to help the organization maintains the compliance?

All accreditation has a set of standards and elements which guide all aspects of nursing care like use of restraints,pain management, prevention of pressure ulcers .They sends out advisory and standards to maintain to provide quality care .with accreditation in place we should always plan a nursing keeping in mind the accreditation standards .There are standards for the physicals setup ,facility management.so before we construct a clinic all the aspects can be looked in to and build according to the set standards.Standards for waste disposal,liquid waste disposal needs a complex infrastructure for safe disposal of waste which can be planned at the nehinyof the project .with accreditation we have to follow the staff ratio.if we do not maintain the ratio we will be liable for non compliance.

To ensure that the organization follows compliance I will recruit staffs ,quality officer who has experience in previous accredited hospitals and nursing homes .we should have staffs who have completed implementation course for the accreditation.A quality committee to be formulated for orienting and teaching the standard requirements to all the staff.Regular in-service training and audits should be conducted to check whether the institution is complying to the accreditation standards.
